Washington: Washington State Department of Corrections

Abstract:
The Washington State Department of Corrections will target offenders ages 14–21 who have been incarcerated under the Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration for at least 6 months and offenders ages 14–35 who have been incarcerated under the Department of Corrections for at least 1 year. The project will be piloted in King, Pierce, and Spokane Counties. The department proposes a grant-funded videoconferencing system to link the participating institutions with a community Justice Center located in each of the targeted counties. The program will establish Offender Reentry Teams (composed of service providers, mentors, family members, parole supervision staff, placement resources staff, and numerous other support persons) who will work directly with the offender.

Award Amount (3 year total): $2,000,000.00
